What does OpenDNS mean?
OpenDNS is a company and service that extends the Domain Name System (DNS) by adding features such as phishing protection and optional content filtering in addition to DNS lookup, if its DNS servers are used. The services are based on software proprietary to the company.
Is OpenDNS free to use?
OpenDNS provides added safety for free. You can be a bit safer on the Internet using OpenDNS rather than the DNS servers from your ISP. OpenDNS is a free online service that offers an extra layer of safety on the Internet. Technically, the service is DNS resolution, which I’ll explain below.
